Innsbruck, with its many different faces celebrates Mozart's 250th anniversary and is our home for this years Alps tour. As the site of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games, Innsbruck is surrounded by six splendid ski areas and the Stubai Glacier region (guaranteed snow), all of which appeal to skiers with modest to expert skills. Free shuttle service from our hotel's to the various ski slopes is provided. The special Innsbruck Superski Pass includes visits to the nearby world-famous resorts of St. Anton and Kitzbühel. You will have access to more than 300 miles of slopes and 200 lifts! For Nordic ski enthusiasts, there are over 120 miles of prepared trails in the Innsbruck area. Innsbruck has every imaginable winter activity available including rides with professional drivers in a bob sled , sixteen ice skating arenas, six swimming pools, 6 tennis & squash courts, 13 curling rinks, and other activities including ice climbing, ice hockey, horse riding, sleigh rides, paragliding, snow-shoe hikes and ski jumping events. For non-skiers, this charming, 800-year-old city bustles with activity. Discover historical Innsbruck by exploring beautiful ancient churches and palaces, wandering down arcade streets and cobbled lanes, and strolling along the River Inn as it winds through the city.
The Inn valley is always a favorite destination for winter sports seekers and is packed with value and special events. One evening with our Tyrol friends will find us on a guided toboggan and alpine hut evening complete with dinner, mountain music, dancing and a welcome drink to start the evening fun. Our hotel is the cozy 4-star Hotel Maximilan. It is located in Old Town convenient to ski bus stop, good shopping, evening activity and has always been popular with our groups.
The towering Matterhorn, the absence of cars, and the resort's great sense of tradition give Zermatt a special, alluring atmosphere. Old weathered farmhouses stand among modern hotels and buildings, creating a unique and picturesque view, no matter where you look. Zermatt sits at an elevation of 5,315 feet at the end of a long valley surrounded by three major ski areas - the Sunnegga, Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn - with lifts reaching almost 13,000 feet. The entire area is favored by a southern exposure and is often sheltered from the wind and generously endowed with snow. More than 75 lifts provide access to over 150 miles of groomed runs, with a good blend of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain as well as over 30 on- mountain restaurants and bars to enjoy. It is even possible to ski to Cervinia in Italy for lunch! Non-skiers will enjoy an abundance of possible activities such as horse-drawn sleigh rides, 18 miles of prepared winter walking paths, shopping, helicopter sightseeing tours, ice skating, curling, indoor tennis or just relaxing at one of the many coffee and pastry shops or restaurants.
The 3-star Hotel Gronergrat-Dorf will be our home for the week. It is well-situated in the center of town, 100 yards from the ski lift station. The hotel has a restaurant, bar La Matze, sauna & solarium. All guest rooms have private bathroom/shower, hairdryer, telephone, safe, TV and radio & balcony.
