Innsbruck, Austria

The 800-year-old city of Innsbruck is truly a winter wonderland for everyone. The seven surrounding ski resorts (including the Stubai Glacier for guaranteed snow) appeal to skiers with modest to expert skills. The Innsbruck Glacier Skipass includes free bus transfers and encompasses all of these areas - 63 lifts and 76 miles of downhill runs. Cross-country enthusiasts can choose from 12 nearby cross-country areas with over 110 miles of prepared trails, also accessed by the free bus system. As the site of the 1964 and 1976 Olympics, Innsbruck has every imaginable winter activity available including thrilling rides with professional drivers in a bob sled or eleven other toboggan runs, sixteen ice skating arenas, six swimming pools, 6 tennis & squash courts, 13 curling rinks, ice climbing, ice hockey, horse riding, sleigh rides, paragliding, snow-shoe hikes and ski jumping events. St. Anton & Kitzbuhel ski lifts and transfers are included with the Super Ski Pass and no less than 20 plus other major ski centers are available from Innsbruck for a day of winter sports activity.

In addition, there is an almost endless list of non skiing activities: Old Town with its cobbled lanes are filled with shops; the Alpine Zoo; the Ambras Castle; the Imperial Palace (Hofburg); the Tyrolean Provincial and Folk Art Museums; Operas and Concerts; shopping at the Swarovski Crystal factory; gambling in a European Casino; organized sightseeing tours to Vipitino, Munich, Salzburg, and the Bavarian Castles are available for exploring beyond! Truly, Innsbruck has something for everyone!

The 4-star Hotel Maximilan will be our home for the week. It is well-situated just around the corner from Old Town and is well known for its hospitality, Tyrolean charm, good food and features very nice rooms, a full service restaurant, bar and ski room. All guest rooms have private bathroom, telephone, satellite TV, radio and hairdryer.
