Monte Rosa,Monte Rosa, Europe’s second highest mountain and the Gressoney Valley position La Trinité as one of the highest & most prestigious mountain ski villages in the Italian Alps and part of the awe inspiring Monterosa Ski area. Its location, one of the most scenic in the Aosta region boasts views of Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa glacier, the Matterhorn and the Gran Paradiso. The Gressoney valley also include Weissmatten, Saint Jean and Stafal. The three valley Monterrosa have 42 lifts, 180 km (112 miles) of prepared pistes, and 40 km prepared with artificial snow. Leaving from Indren glacier, there are several off-piste routes down Gressoney slopes and Valle d’Aosta Heli ski services provide sightseeing & extended ski experiences for 6 full days. Web Cams of the valley will keep us all up to date on the snow conditions. Neighbor, Alagna and the the other villages of the Val Sesia add additional ski fun. Informal and relaxed, Gressoney's night life revolves around the local bars and cafés and our hotel. In La Trinité the Hirsch Stube is best for draught beer and the Ejelbode for scrumptious home made apple cake. Enjoy the natural ice rink (St. Jean), expansive cross-country skiing, snowshoe walking and good restaurants serving typical local specialities. The countryside is very beautiful featuring stadel buildings, that stand on short columns built in the shape of mushrooms. You can visit many alpine hamlets and ski villages of the Monterosa, Aosta and Valsesia valleys. The dialect (the Tisch) spoken in Gressoney is very similar to modern German. Some customs have survived and it is common to see the inhabitants in traditional dress during local festivals. Savoy Castle was built by King Umberto I for his wife, Queen Margherita, and is used today to hold artistic and cultural events. Aosta town lies 70 km (44 miles) from Gressoney, and the name of the local population, Germanic in origin they arrived in the valley from Valais in the 12th and 13th centuries. It was founded by the Romans in 25 BC and boasts Augustus' Arch, the well preserved Roman Theatre and Sant’Orso, the medieval complex with a beautiful 12th c. cloister. Feudal castles and towers from the Middle Ages line the route taken by traveler’s along the course of the river Dora Baltea. Saint Vincent, 45 km (28 miles) from Gressoney, is the home of Europe's largest Casino and the famous spa of Fons Salutis can be reached from the town via cable car. Other visits can include the Treasury Museum of Vercelli Cathedral, home to the “Vercelli book”, one of the most famous 10th century manuscripts written in English. and the Leone Museum with a fascinating collection of precious 18th century items.
