Portillo, legendary for its powder snow, has been South America’s premier resort since 1949. The enormous Hotel Portillo is located at 9,448 feet, perched above an exquisite lake in a picture-perfect setting with an eclectic mix of elements that provides all you would want in a world-class hotel. It is often called “a cruise ship in the mountains.” While the lower slopes are intermediate, there are steep couloirs above, reached by a five-person platter lift. The cliff known as Kilometro Lanzado was the site of three world speed-skiing records. You will find that the 2,487 vertical feet of uncrowded slopes offer plenty of skiable terrain.

Las Leñas is unlike any ski village you have ever experienced. It lies high in the Andes Mountains and includes 650,000 acres of gigantic ski terrain. Its architecture is non-traditional using lots of rock with few right angles. This style gives the impression that the buildings are leaning back against the moon. Las Leñas is somewhat divided into two incredible ski domains, and there is skiing for all abilities. Off-piste skiers will find the uncrowded slopes offer enormous potential to enjoy untracked powder at an unhurried pace.
